Artist. Sculptor. Machinist.

Arnaldo Morales was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico in 1967, and has lived in the New York area since 1996. He studied Fine Arts/Sculpture at Escuela de Artes Plásticas in San Juan and is an expert metal fabricator and classic machine enthusiast and restorer. One of his educational Facebook groups, “Home Machine Shop,” has more than 85,000 international members.

Morales’ interactive sculptures have been presented in international exhibitions at Kunsthalle Winterthur, Switzerland; Sala Plaza de España, Madrid; Museu de les Ciències Príncipe Felipe, Valencia; Museo d’Arte Provincia di Nuoro, Sardinia; Centro Cultural de Arte Contemporánea, Mexico DF; and the Living Art Museum, Reykjavik.

He exhibits in Puerto Rico regularly, and has shown at Casa de los Contrafuertes; Galería Botello; Galería Carlos Irizarry; Galería Leonora Vega; Museo de Historia, Antropología y Arte, University of Puerto Rico-Río Piedras; Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico; Museo de Arte Contemporánea; and Museo de Arte de Ponce.

In New York, Morales has exhibited widely, including MoMA-PS1; the Museum of Art & Design; JP Morgan Chase; El Museo del Barrio; The Americas Society; School of Visual Arts; Exit Art; White Box; Bronx Museum, and Bronx Art Space. His work has been presented across the US at Rice University Art Gallery, Houston; Institute of Cultural Inquiry, Los Angeles; Galería de la Raza, San Francisco; Real Art Ways, Connecticut; and others.

Arnaldo has been awarded fellowships from the Joan Mitchell Foundation, New York Foundation for the Arts, and Bronx Council on the Arts. He has been selected for residencies at John Michael Kohler Arts/Industry, WI; Islip Art Museum Carriage House, NY; and Franconia Sculpture Park, MN (through a Jerome Foundation award); he was commissioned by the Public Art Fund, NYC.

Arnaldo Morales’ work is in public and private collections across the US and Puerto Rico.
